Lam Morrison, Thailand’s Guitar King and Rock Legend
Lam started singing and playing guitar in 1956 as a young child and has since played all over Thailand and the world. His first band was the “VIP Band” in Udon Thani. He played for the US Army and Air Force during the Vietnam War. Lam is credited with bringing Rock And Roll to Thailand…
Lam’s first major concert was the Open Air Concert in Bangkok 1972. A huge concert with many local and overseas bands. His first album was also in 1972 with the VIP band. It was also the first Rock and Roll album released in Thailand.
In 1974, Lam toured Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Playing for 10 years before coming back to Thailand. After a while Lam moved to Sydney, Australia where he lived in Dee Why for three years, playing in a band called the “Firebirds Blues Band”. Again back to Thailand for a while before touring American and Scandinavia again.

To date, Lam has released 10 albums with the most popular being ”Live In Norway” which was released in 1982. Lam also writes his own music. His personal favorite track being “You Break My Heart” and the song “Night In Bangkok” which is one of the most famous pieces of music in Thailand.
Bands and musicians like Jim Morrison, The Doors, Steppenwolf and of course Jimi Hendricks have been the biggest influence on Lam’s career. These days Lam and his band play songs from Gary Moore, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendricks, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones and The Doors plus many more. Lam and his band also play requests, they have a huge knowledge of Rock music and can usually play any song customers want to hear.
Lam has played for the King of Thailand on many occassions. The most recent being the “Rock For The Greatest King Concert” on Saturday June 9, 2007 at Suan Loom Night Bazaar Main Hall in Bangkok.
Top Gun Guitar

Lam’s famous Top Gun guitar was made in Pattaya by Lams younger brother. It is hand carved from wood. The guitar took many months to complete and is made from parts imported from all over the world.
At the time it was made, the Top Gun guitar was the only one on the world.
