The long weekend of May 1-4, The Lam Morrison House of Rock celebrates it’s first anniversary as Pattaya’s Real Rock Club, with SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: ONE YEAR - A Birthday Bash Rent Party Jam Session (Friday, 2 May); LAMSTOCK: 3 Daze of Piece & Music (Thursday, Friday, Saturday 1-3 May); and VIPs RE-UNITED (Sunday, 4 May).
That’s:
LAMSTOCK: 3 Daze of Piece & Music
Lam Morrison Plays the Music of  Woodstock:  Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Ten Years After, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat and Country Joe & The Fish (”and it’s one, two, three, what are we fighting for…”).

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: ONE YEAR!
Birthday Bash Rent Party Jam Session
Friday, 2 May 10pm - Late
VIPs RE-UNITED
Lam Morrison Band with special guest, Ekamun
Sunday, 4 May 10pm - late

Why? Because it’s been a hell of a first year.
In one rough year for Pattaya, whence it seemed more Go Gos and Bar Beers shuttered than opened, while business fell off by as much as 30% and where amidst the “For Sale” signs and facade skeletons of Walking Street, Lam Morrison, Thailand’s Guitar King, opened and maintained (by performing incendiary nightly sets) Pattaya’s first real rock club, The Lam Morrison House of Rock.
After a few years of sporadic stints throughout Pattaya, most recently as a late night regular at The Blues Factory, Lam committed to his Australian partner, Paul Kelly, to build this club as his legacy, The Lam Morrison House of Rock.
Over this past year The Lam Morrison House of Rock has played host to, among others, Sek Loso, The Olarn Project, Ekamun, Pop The Sun, Rang Rockestra, Kitty Machine Gun, Neng & The Fying V All Stars, Momoko Futon, as Momokomotion and with Gene Mahasamut, Zyndy and the Rocketz, Hell’s Angels, Reggae’s Gold Red, Audy, Assajan Jakawan and, most every night at midnight rocking classic rock classically, Lam Morrison and his Trio (drummer Toy and bassist Toto).
Last year he opened the club two weeks after Songkran, just in time for Cobta Gold, and so this year, Lam will host a wild night of rockin’ fun on Friday, May Second, billed as SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: Birthday Bash Rent Party Jam Session.  An All Points Bulletin has been sent to Lam’s musician pals to join him in an old fashioned no-holds-barred jam session celebrating his and the club’s survival. (It’s billed tongue-in-cheek as a rent party [every night is actually a rent party]).
LAMSTOCK: 3 DAZE OF PIECE & MUSIC, is Lam’s interpretation of the music from the original 1969 Woodstock Festival:  Each of the three nights, he will pay tributes to specific bands, ranging from his vast Hendrix repertoire (including “The Star Spangle Banner”) to the Creedence and Santana catalogs, to one time only renditions of  rarities such as “Goin’ Home” by Albert Lee’s Ten Years After and Country Joe and the Fish’s “Feel Like I’m Fixin to Die Rag”.
The party weekend will culminate with VIPs Re-United, a rare meeting of the minds between the two active members of the Thai supergroup VIP.  VIP was Thailand’s first Platinum Act, who sold a million albums even before their were record stores, when albums and cassettes were sold from side-of-the-road bus stops, newstands and gas stations.  Ekamun, the drummer, still plays regularly at Bangkok’s Rock Pub and leads workshops for The Prart School of Music.  He has played often at The Lam Morrison House of Rock, but mostly to replace Lam, not with Lam.  This will be the pair’s first outing since they played at a televised tribute to Thailand’s King as part of last year’s major celebrations.
All this Spring, Lam Morrison, Thailand’s first rock star/ Thailand’s lost rock star, has celebrated his 50 Years of Rock.
Now 63, he was self-taught, listening to the radio at the age of 13, playing on a beat-up acoustic while tending the rice fields (and the buffalo).  He left home to lead the best bands on the US GI Bases, tour Europe in the late 70s, sell millions in Thailand in the 80s, sign to EMI (at the bequest of Deep Purple’s Richie Blackmore), then disappear and reappear for much of the past 20 years as  a rock n roll gypsy performing with pick up bands
But now with the opening of The Lam Morrison House of Rock, as well as Lam’s mid/late-life reinvigoration, Thailand’s Guitar King is on nightly display for all to discover for the first time.  Or savor for the Nth time.
Longtime devotees are amazed at his newfound vigor, stamina and reclaimed virtuosity.
That virtuosity will be demonstrated and celebrated May 1st through 4th, when The Lam Morrison House of Rock holds three distinct and cool anniversary events: Survival of the Fittest, The Birthday Bash Rent Party jam Session on Friday, the 2nd, LamStock, 3 Daze of Piece & Music staring on Thursday, the 1st, and VIPs Re-United on Sunday the 4th.  Plan a long weekend in Pattaya next weekend at The Lam Morrison House of Rock.
The Lam Morrison House of Rock, located in South Pattaya, just off Walking Street on Funky Soi Marine (aka Soi Marine Plaza), has added a spark of life to the formerly dark alley between Soi Lucky Star and the so-called Arab Street.   It’s in the Insomnia Disco Building across from Marine’s Open Air Seafood Restaurant, a stone’s throw from Coyotes and a dogleg turn out of Soi Lucky Star.  Follow the rock. Or look for Lam’s bright red sports car and/or Paul and Toto and Toy’s Harleys.  Or the now legendary CBGB & Yadong Stand, serving punk rock and new wave Thai herbal whiskey.
(By the way, The Lam Morrison House of Rock  maintains a cordial relationship with its neighbor, The Blues Factory, sharing Pattaya’s growing audience for live music, which, on many nights, shuttles between the two clubs.  And Lam still plays there for special occasions; and Blues Factory musicians jam on his stage.  Lam hopes joint promotions will be forthcoming over the next year.)
