GENE MAHASAMUT AND MOMOKO UEDA WALK ON THE WILD SIDE AT LAM MORRISON ROCK CLUB IN PATTAYA, 20-23 MARCH 2008

The Lam Morrison House of Rock in South Pattaya presents WALK ON THE WILD SIDE, a musical tribute to Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, performed by Gene Mahasamut (Saliva Bastards, Citizen Dog ) and Momoko Ueda (MomokoMotion, Futon) for four nights this March, Thursday the 20th through Sunday the 23rd, with shows nightly at 9:00 pm.

Momoko and Gene, friends from the new Bangkok Indie Scene, began exploring their shared fascination with Lou Reed, Nico, Andy Warhol, Maryanne Faithful, The Exploding Plastic Inevitable, The Chelsea Hotel and all things 1960’s New York through lo-fi impromptu jams on songs from The Velvet Underground featuring Nico.

Over the past three months they have progressed from tinker toy covers to an hour-long performance piece. Gene and Momoko have built WALK ON THE WILDSIDE through workshops at The Cassette Cafe and weekly gigs at The La La Bar, both in Bangkok.

They have begun recording a self-produced CD of the music, and have augmented their Velvet’s material at recent shows with songs from Lou Reed’s solo career, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.

The four-night residency at The Lam Morrison House of Rock will premiere the first full-dress version of this dual work of passion and obsession.
